Dear Church Family,

My summer sermon series is entitled: “Are You Convinced.” We will wrestle with the challenges we face as Christians in a world that is apathetic towards what we believe and at times is down right hostile to what we believe. It will be based on Paul’s second letter to Timothy. Timothy was a young pastor in Ephesus that had become discouraged by false teachers that constantly ridiculed what he believed and taught. Paul wrote to encourage Timothy and teach him that he had nothing to fear and on the contrary he was more than equipped to answer their objections.

We need to be reminded that we have nothing to fear and we are more than equipped to shine the light of God’s Truth on objections to our Christian faith. When that happens we gain enormous confidence in Jesus.

So here are the subjects we will wrestle with this summer:

June 22: “Are You Convinced?”

June 29: “If God is a God of Love, why is there so much suffering in the world?”

July 7: “If God is a God of Love, how could he send people to Hell?”

July 20: “The Bible was written by men, how can we trust that it is true?”

July 27: “What about people that have never heard of Jesus, why can’t they go to Heaven?”

August 3: “With all the religions in the world how can we be sure ours is the right one?”

August 10: “Evolution is factual so how can we believe God created everything?”

I hope you will give this series serious consideration and prayer. If you have family or friends that do not go to church and wrestle with these questions then I hope you will invite them to come. I am going to do something a little different. I am going to declare this sermon series a “Get up and go series.” That means that at the end of the sermon you can get up and go or you can stay and ask questions or offer input.

So, I look forward to seeing you this Sunday morning as we begin this journey together.
